One of the most distinctively marked, colorful, and sought after of the Peacock Bass, the Brokpondo Peacock Bass is found only in the waters around Suriname’s Lake Brokopondo. Although currently considered a form of C. ocellaris, it is likely that the Brokopondo variant may be a distinct species. Like all Cichla, they are large, powerful, predatory fish and should be kept by experienced aquarists with suitably large aquariums to house these fish as adults.
