Breeding males are very terrtorial and will defend a large surface of rocks as terrirotry. Females are solitary and are lured in the male territory. Males are golden yellow with light blue dorsal and anal fins. At some places males have a blue glow on their body. At Kirondo, males have a blue patch over the nose and forehead. Females have no markings on their fins are are light brown to yellowish-white in color.
