A beautiful protomelas with a common name given to several other species that often ends in confusion, and the muddling of this fish in asia to produce a smaller more streamlined fish via hybridization while also being called mara rocks lends to the confusion. 

The true mara rocks is a BIG protomelas, almost rivaling some predator haps in size, they can reach up to 10 inches in size and in my opinion one of the most aggressive protomelas in the genus, with sometimes a single mara taking over half of a very populated cichlid tank.
