The Orange Eye Red Demon Shrimp (often called Red Demon OE or Orange Eye Fire Red) is a rare, selectively bred variety of Neocaridina davidi dwarf freshwater shrimp. They feature an intense, deep red body color contrasted by striking, glowing orange eyes

The Breakthrough: While orange eyes have long existed in the more sensitive Caridina species (like the Orange Eye Red Devil), they were virtually nonexistent in Neocaridina. This specific line originated around 2020 with Swiss breeder Michael Häsler, who discovered a single mutant shrimp and spent years stabilizing the genetics

Recessive Trait: The "Demon Eye" trait is controlled by a recessive gene. Breeding two Red Demons together results in 100% orange-eyed offspring. Breeding a Red Demon to a normal black-eyed shrimp results in normal-looking offspring that carry the hidden gene

Unlike finicky Caridina shrimp, Red Demons belong to the Neocaridina family, making them hardy, adaptable, and beginner-friendly.
