SNOW ZEBRA (METRIACLIMA ESTHERAE .SP WHITE)

Diet: Flake food & small pellets. Algae Flakes. Frozen: Brine Shrimp, Mysis, pacifica plankton, bloodworms

• Size: Males 5 inches, Females 5 inches
• Water Conditions: pH 7.6 to 8.2; water temperature 76 to 82 degrees F.
• Introduced:Stauffer, Bowers, Kellogg& McKaye 1997 : Males are light yellow with a blue cast; 4 -7 egg spots. Females are light yellow/orange; 0 – 3 egg spots.
• Breeding: Males will create a nest in the gravel or defend a territory on the top of a flat rock Eggs are carried by female in her mouth for 21 days and number about 25 – 40.  Fry will eat baby brine shrimp.
• Behavior: Mbenji Zebras are aggressive and territorial fish. Give them plenty of room and rock caves to hide in. They should be kept with other aggressive mbuna from Lake Malawi like Pseudotropheus demasoni, Melanochromis johanni and Synodontis catfish.
