Trimac cichlids are a large aggressive cichlid from Central America. They get their name from the 3 spots they have running down their lateral line. Males will become significantly larger than females. A full grown male will be around 15" and a female will reach up to 10".
In the wild, Trimac cichlids are found throughout Central America in slow moving water. They are predatory in nature and will eat anything small enough to fit in their mouths. Previously these fish were classified as Cichlasoma trimaculatus but have been reclassified as Amphilophus trimaculatus in recent years.
